Do’s and Don’ts in Written Assignments

During a student life every student accomplishes an overwhelming number of written assignments. Thus, more and more experience in accomplishment of written assignments is got. Still, some students are still unaware of what to do and what not to do while making written assignments. That is why the presentation of do’s and don’ts in written assignments can be well in handy for every student.

So, while fulfilling written assignments, DO:

•    Structure your paper carefully according to the standard requirements or the ones established by your tutor. As a rule, all written assignments should have the Introduction, the Main Body and the Conclusion. However, some of them are subdivided into the smaller parts, like Data Presentation, Discussion, etc.;
•    Edit your paper properly. The necessity to edit written tasks means that you should ALWAYS edit the papers done. You can use online writing services, pay the sum of money they require and get a paper without mistakes, or you can do it by yourself;
•    Use your creative thinking. Creativity is always much welcome in any kind of written assignments. You just have to combine it with your knowledge of the materials proficiently.
While fulfilling written assignments, DO NOT:
•    Use every day language. You have to make use of the language required. As a rule, no slang or professional jargon is allowed;
•    Use repetitions if it is possible to change a repeated word by a synonym;
•    Break the rules of grammar, spelling, punctuation or format.

Keep these things in mind while accomplishing the written assignments and you will always get only the highest grades on them.

Your Thinking in the Written Assignment

I always wanted to know why some students hate their written assignments. As for me, written assignment is not so difficult, but rather interesting to do. Still, I have one supposition why the written assignment can be so disgusting for somebody.

One of the most common reasons and big problems is the wrong organization of your thinking or brainstorming process. It is the very first step of any written assignment. You start with generating the ideas that will be covered in your work.

Usually it happens like that. You sit for an hour, two, three and the results are nil. Your forehead is covered with wrinkles from the intensive ideas generating process. You sweat and go from one corner of the room to another. But this also does not help.

What you should do? Where to get the ideas? Well, everything is a bit simpler than you imagine. First, it is better to calm down and concentrate. Only your fresh head will generate some fresh thoughts.

Second, you have to be equipped with the notebook and a pen. You should be ready to write down your ideas.

Third, is actually writing down the ideas. All ideas, I mean every single idea should be reflected on the paper. You may think that in this way a lot of useless ideas will be noted; however you should not care about it at this moment.

Everything you need is a solid basis. After that you will be able to sort your ideas and decide whether they are pointless or the good ones.

Written Assignment: For and Against

Written assignments are frequently assigned to students of different academic institutions. Actually, the greater part of education students spend on accomplishing written assignments. It is the main reason for why the vast majority of students hate written assignments.

Let us consider the advantages and the disadvantages of education based on written assignments:

  • Advantages. Every student should be enough educated in writing. Written assignment develops students’ writing skills. A student learns to express his or her thoughts in sentences following the major rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Moreover, a student learns to disclose the main idea of the task required. When you write, you learn to transfer your thoughts into the words arranging them in logical consecution. That is why this advantage of written assignment accomplishing is rather an essential one and helps to improve your personal abilities and professionalism in writing;
  • Disadvantages. An overwhelming number of written assignments yield inabilities to express thoughts verbally. Present day students have used to using notes while making reports meanwhile they should give speech without any help just from memory. This enables them to reproduce information providing enough sufficient details. You will never tell many details in your report if your attention is focused on the most important information that you have to convey. As a result, abilities to cover the subject matter fully are becoming blocked.

The discussion on advantages and the disadvantages of written assignments can last forever. However, inspite of this, you must fulfill everything that your tutor assigns.

A Good Way to Love a Written Assignment

Written assignment is a problem for many students. The thing is not only in the fact that the students have poor writing skills, or they do not have the information about the formats. The thing is that a lot of students just do not like writing, and this is the main reason why a written assignment is a problem for them.

Definitely it is not that easy to love something that you actually hate doing. However, you will have to try hard in case of the written assignment, since you will have a lot of them in your school and college life.

How can you do it? Is it really possible to love a written assignment? From my point of view, it is quite possible, if you find a strong motivation for that. Think about it. If you have the exact reason for doing something, you will cope with that task.

The same you should do with your academic tasks. You can consider the following aspects:

  • Think what you can get after writing your assignment. It can be knowledge, new information, a reward from your parents and so on.
  • Think about the benefits of the written assignment. In fact, all the skills (writing, thinking, analytical) will be definitely useful for you in the future.
  • Finally, you can compare yourself with the other peers. Almost all of them are doing their assignments rather successfully. Thus, it should mean they are better than you are. However, you have all the chances to prove it is not true.

So, I am sure that if you find a good motivation, the written assignments will not bother you.
